Abstract

ABSTRACT

Urban Livability dimension which encompassing city and local scale is connectivity. Road network not only facilitating physical connections for vehicle on city scale, but also urgent for social interaction in local scale. Within local scale, public-private interface become important elements which can facilitate social interaction, unfortunately it have not yet been widely dieksplore. University perimeters in Indonesia is the result of  urbanization and urban development through the flows of students and along with it those which supply their needs; which stimulate an organic growth of built environment consist of mixes of user and activity. Study area is settlement located in between Brawijaya University and UIN Maliki’s perimeter, which not only framed by two distinct university but also connecting two industrial nodes. Thus it is interesting to identify the characteristic of its public-private interface and how it related to its mix of user and activity. The methode use to analyse using diagram, description, mapping and overlay-mapping.. As university perimeter growth tend to be unplanned, there are risk of lack of livability; however through public-private interface mapping the findings showed that while the built environment might not showed it but the characteristic of public-private interface within study area are contributing to the Livability of the settlement by facilitating social interaction and diverse activity.
